wikisource (Dictionary of National Biography, 1885-1900, Volume 38) has 1889-03-01 as date for his passing away - any source for the 18th other than wikipedia followups? -- 217.224.229.213 (talk) 10:13, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Corrected. Nice example of Wikipedia producing facts. --Rabanus Flavus (talk) 21:07, 5 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
The article was commenced sourcelessly. The first source added was Find-a-Grave, which says 18 March. The gravestone may have a date, but I can't read it. Then someone added his IMdB page, which says 1 March, but nobody changed anything or queried the discrepancy. I haven't checked but I suspect the article has always said 18 March, yet decent sources like Grove's Dictionary (5th edition, at least) have always said 1 March. -- Jack of Oz[pleasantries] 01:44, 6 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
