Felony murder edit
In the New Yorker of 18 Dec 23, p 28, in "Whats Makes a Murder?", by Sarah Stillman, Hawkins, cited as a legal theorist in 1716, is credited with popularizing the idea of felony murder, which she goes on to say began to be applied in British courts later in the 18th century.
