the article is a paste of material from the Fort Belvoir website, Public Domain as US Government. pohick 22:16, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Colonial p.r. edit

This piece contains the statement: "Despite the grandeur of their surroundings and the refinement of their furnishings, planters like the Masons, McCartys, Washingtons, and Fairfaxes did not lead indolent lives. Conscious of their civic duty, they were the political, social, economic, and religious leaders of their immediate neighborhood and of the colony at large." I'm not sure who the author of this was, but it deserves a citation to a footnote, because given the conduct of at least one Fairfax, it's wishful thinking at best. I started a heavy cleanup on this article in a genealogy library a couple days ago, but don't know when I'll be able to citecheck it. See my comment today on the talk page for Thomas, 6th Lord Fairfax of Cameron.Jweaver28 (talk) 15:01, 2 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
