Talk:William F. Tate IV

There seems to be an editing conflict in the personal life section. I added a source saying he was raised Catholic, but that information was later obscured with no explanation. Also, the reference to his wife being Protestant was changed to "Christian"—twice—for unknown reasons (Catholics and Protestants are both Christians). A source has been added wherein Tate describes his faith, but he doesn't appear to mention being Protestant; this information was added to the article anyway, with the implication that the use of the word "Christian" means he's "Protestant"—which is not the case. I also suspect he is Protestant, given that he's married to one, but I've yet to find a source confirming it. natemup (talk) 12:34, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Also of note is that Tate's wife Kim is associated with a brand of Protestantism (Reformed Evangelicalism, a la the New Calvinists, Desiring God and The Gospel Coalition) that tends not to view Catholics as Christians due to their theology. So it's possible that the various editors' insistence on Tate and his wife being referred to as "Christian" rather than "Protestant" (and certainly not as "Catholic") is purely a POV concern. natemup (talk) 13:37, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
