Can someone explain how someone can be born in 1865 and be the son of someone who died, at the latest, in 1862? Matthearn (talk) 13:19, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you are talking about Will Dockery, he died in 1936. Did I make a mistake somewhere in the article? —Mattisse (Talk) 13:33, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Umm. I see what you mean. I was going by the sources but I will check them again. —Mattisse (Talk) 13:37, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
You are quite right. My source does not give a birth date. So I removed it. Thanks for pointing that out. —Mattisse (Talk) 13:48, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

you have to make a comment on the picture, that the date is errouneous. Plehn (talk) 16:24, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

The phrase '...and he was willing to pay for it...', seems awkward and unnecessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.165.172.4 (talk) 14:33, 3 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Birth date edit

The picture is of a structure on the Dockery Plantation, which the family still owns. Therefore, it is difficult to say the family is wrong. The source for his father dying in the Battle of Bull Run is also a good one. However, it is obvious there is a discrepancy, whether some of the history is lore despite being well referenced. According to another source (Palmer, Robert (1981). Deep Blues. Middlesex, Eng.: Penguin Books Ltd. pp. pp. 49–50. ISBN 0140062238. {{cite book}}: |pages= has extra text (help); Cite has empty unknown parameter: |coauthors= (help)) Will Dockery's father and mother were left almost destitute by the Civil War and had a hard time paying for his education at Ole Miss. Therefore, I conclude his father did not die at Bull Run. —Mattisse (Talk) 17:10, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
