Fair use rationale for Image:1c 8.JPG edit

Image:1c 8.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I don't see how. It's basically how WP's structured like. GeraldWL 12:16, 20 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

A game that's destined to fail, as it seems. Reviewing this article. GeraldWL 13:00, 20 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Images and lead edit

  • File:Wild Woody Gameplay.jpg has some "NA"s. Please fill them.
  • Please add alt texts to assist those with screen readers.
  • "and it failed to make a commercial impact." I don't see any statements in Reception stating that it "failed to make a commercial impact."
It's in the last sentence of Reception's first paragraph: "Wild Woody failed to make a commercial impact, which Lanford attributed to its late release in the 16-bit era, questionable character design and standard platforming gameplay." Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 20:52, 20 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Gameplay edit

  • I remember a version of this article having a plot section. They are allowed to be included, so if you can, please do so. This should be placed below "Gameplay".
  • in which the player controls the titular character. Woody is an anthropomorphic pencil -- suggest changing to in which the player controls the titular character Woody, an anthropomorphic pencil.
  • Suggest linking totem pole as it is uncommon word.

Development and release edit

Reception edit

  • Suggest paraphrasing some quotes to lessen copyright stuff. I see stuff that can be.
  • "Doug Lanford agreed that the title"-- "In response, Doug Lanford agreed that the title". GeraldWL 13:00, 20 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Salute for that quick change. Now I just have two concerns on the plot. After this I'll give MOS:VG a last check.
  • "...the totem pole's power would be released; the totem pole segments scatter and create parallel universes for themselves, which threatens to destroy the world." Repetitive use of totem pole. Suggest changing the second mention to "it".
  • Suggest giving the sentences starting from "Under Low Man's instruction" a standalone paragraph. So the plot has two paragraphs. Much cleaner in my view. GeraldWL 02:17, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
And done. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 03:25, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Cat's Tuxedo, and all good! I've added a portal bar; now it's GA. Hold on a second for that. GeraldWL 04:20, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • ... that the video game Wild Woody contains an easter egg that displays a topless mermaid if certain items are collected in order? Source: "At one point in the game, during a level involving pirate treasure, there is an Easter Egg where if you collect treasure in a very specific order, you will be "rewarded" with a topless mermaid who certainly appears as though she was meant to evoke Ariel from A Little Mermaid." [1]
    • ALT1:... that musician Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal was given a single month to compose the full score for the video game Wild Woody? Source: "I had a 1-month deadline to write and record a title song, 16 game level songs, as well as score the 6 animated story-line and transitional sequences, and 5 different "game over" sequences." •   Definitely a GA, very much prefer the original hook, the only thing that stands out is that according to the article, it was a "sketch" of a mermaid, although the source given here doesn't say it's a sketch. I know it's a video game, but it does matter as to whether it was an actual in-game mermaid or just a picture of one... Otherwise this is good to go. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Fixed the article's wording to make it clear that the sketch mechanic creates flesh-and-blood beings in-universe, since the said mermaid is animated and not just a picture. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 19:28, 27 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
