Please stop the battling of page revisions. It is not necessary to list the competitors on the Wicks Organ Company page as they are already featured in the redundant link labeled "list of pipe organ builders." I view the addition of competitors as purely advertising or harsh views against Wicks Organ Company as no other organ builder Wiki entry contains such competitors. Every recent page revision has to do with negative reflections of the Wicks Organ Company. This supports opinion and nothing more; It little to do with the company's 100 year old history or anything pertaining to encyclopaedic nature. Various comments about recent management changes have been disproved due to lack or references. Wicks Organ and public domain documents and photos

badly voiced, but cheap

I quote from the page: "The Wick's Organ Company produces badly voiced but cheap pipe organs." This seems to be an opinion. What objective source of organ quality is this from? Without a citation, pretty soon, I'm removing it.Mark Preston 16:22, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Name Changed

I am changing the spelling of the name. The family name is Wick. I know them! The sign originally had an apostrophe between the "K" and the "S". That is WICK'S. Mark Preston 16:16, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

After speaking with a lineal descendant of the Wick Brothers, and being informed by him that the name was spelled Wick's, I am further informed by current employees of the Wicks Organ Co., as follows:

"Thanks for your message regarding the correct name of our Company.

From the founding of the Company in 1906, through its incorporation in Illinois in 1908, until 1937, the exact corporate name was WICKS PIPE ORGAN COMPANY. This appears in the incorporation papers; on a 1926 patent; on all contracts signed for organs during this period; and is also what was told us by Martin Wick, former president.

From 1938 to the present the exact corporate name is WICKS ORGAN COMPANY. This appears in the documents registering our agent with the Illinois Secretary of State, on our Trademark renewals, and on all contracts signed since 1938.

Neither of these names has ever included an apostrophe, regardless of the skills of sign painters and the utterances of advertising agents. The reason is that "Wicks" is a plural, not a possessive. It's plural because the Company was founded and operated by the three Wick brothers.

The logo used from about the 1920's featuring the flying "W" and the words "Wicks Direct Electric," which appeared on consoles, letterheads, and elsewhere, has no apostrophe either.

I know that there is no way of insuring accuracy on Internet sites, but the above are the facts - the rest is speculation.

Reverted

I reverted the article to an earlier version because I felt that important sections of the article had simply been cut away. I had found that not only was information in the main body removed, but I also found that the link to the pipe organ builders category had been removed. I also added a picture of the Wicks organ at St. Francis Basilica in Dyersville. While I admit that it's probably not the best picture, this picture was taken by me and has a free license.

i'm not sure if anyone is passionate enough about a balanced view of wicks organs, but i noticed that some of the content of this article comes directly copy&pasted from the wicks organ website.
