Who Framed Roger Rabbit? edit

Given how likely it is that most people are at all familiar with this song specifically through this film, and Jessica Rabbit singing it(at least for those of us born after it was initially released, anyway), I'm a bit surprised it wasn't mentioned on this page.--Vercalos (talk) 11:43, 9 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Yes indeed, the version (sung by Amy Irving) in WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT is most familiar to the current generation and deserves some discussion. Also, there have been a lot of other recorded versions (some with revised lyrics) since Peggy Lee.Sussmanbern (talk) 03:48, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Weed Smoker's Dream edit

The 1936 blues number, "Weed Smoker's Dream", ia similar to "Why Don't You Do Right", but it has a different melody and different lyrics altho the resemblances (and the possible inspiration of the 1942 song) is conspicuous. Sussmanbern (talk) 04:11, 3 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Gramophonedzie song edit

Gramophonedzie's adaption as "Why Don't You" contains so much of Peggy Lee's recording (with the writer credited as Joe McCoy) that it may be seen as basically the same song for WP:SONGCOVER purposes. Several of his CD singles list the song's writer as "Joe McCoy" without additional writers,[1][2][3] so it is not credited as if it were a "new" or substantially different song. Propose to merge "Why Don't You" into this article and to redirect that here, as done with articles for Clapton's/Cream's "Crossroads", Zeppelin's "Lemon Song", etc. —Ojorojo (talk) 17:32, 12 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
