1830s edit

I was researching my family in the Ballina Library in 2005 and reading microfilms of what I thought were copies of the Western People from the 1830s, accounts of the cholera epidemic that was spreading though Ireland. There were even gaps in the editions when the epidemic reached Ballina (ca. 1835). Perhaps this was a predecessor newspaper of the Western People that somehow got into the microfilm collection? BTW Ballina was in Co. Sligo until sometime in the later 1800s when it was put into Co. Mayo. Laburke (talk) 21:52, 2 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Only the part of Ballina to the east of the Moy was in Co. Sligo. The county boundaries were revised with the Local Government Act 1898. 86.147.171.5 (talk) 14:03, 30 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Political alignment edit

The infobox describes the paper as "Central/authoritarian leaning". On what is this based ? 86.147.171.5 (talk) 14:06, 30 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thomas Crosbie Holdings edit

The article states The newspaper was part of the Thomas Crosbie Holdings group until 2013 but doesn't mention when TCH acquired the title ? For most of its history the title was independently owned. 90.199.167.57 (talk) 21:24, 12 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
