The institute is well-known as disseminator of historical Jesus skepticism. It sponsors the Jesus Seminar, as the article says. Mangoe (talk) 22:36, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

"The concept of voting on aspects of early Christian life and the accuracy of biblical sayings was not a unique innovation of Westar. Rather, it was based on 'the disciplined work of Bible translation committees, a very traditional scholarly practice,' based in turn on the more ancient Greek voting system that involved dropping colored beads into an urn." I think this statement is a synthesis of published material. The citation says nothing about the modern practice but only about the ancient Greek practice.
