word order edit
there should be something here about word order in subordinate clauses - is it still SVO, as in English, or does it become SOV as in the other germanic languages; german, dutch, scandinavian, ...?
this would help demonstrate if the word order in ENGLISH subordinate clauses is a result of the influence of French (from the Normans) or if the word order in FRISIAN for sub. clauses is SVO (which I doubt) ... it would just be nice and interesting to have this info (word order in sub. clauses in Frisian) here ...

Word order in Frisian is exactly as in German (SOV in subordinate clauses) and much like that in Dutch (the latter is somewhat less rigorous and sometimes quite different, however):
Frisian: Ik kin dy net sizze (or: fertelle) wat [oft] er hjoed dien hat.
German: Ich kann dir nicht sagen (erzählen), was er heute getan hat.
Dutch: Ik kan je niet vertellen, wat hij vandaag gedaan heeft (or: ...wat hij vandaag heeft gedaan).
English: I can`t tell you what he did (or: has done) today.
