Article class edit

Since this article seems to have been fleshed out a bit, I've changed its class from stub- to start-. Wi2g 22:02, 23 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Date of death edit

Previously we said September 5 in the lead sentence --with three superscripts outside the closing parenthesis-- and September 6 without any source in the infobox and footer template {Persondata}.

Previously we cited the NYTimes obituary abstract for place of death only. That source says among other things "died Saturday" and September 3 was Saturday in 1966 [1] [2]. September 5 appears to be the NYT publication date [3].

Two of the three sources we previously cited for the lead are two pages at WesleyDennis.com (... via Internet Archive i find nothing about his death). One is the Greenville RI public library biography of illustrator Marguerite Henry (which gives cause of death heart attack, no date).

Altho our lead sentence citations did not support deathdate September 5, [ref name=Papers] does give that date citing a reference book. German Wikipedia gives that date too.

Action: removed from the lead sentence parentheses those citations of sources silent about death; changed deathdate to September 3 per NYT; added a Note about September 5.

(References are now much improved; plus 1 added and 1 recovered from Internet Archive. Now much easier for others to use.) --P64 (talk) 21:37, 25 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Place of birth edit

I recovered via Internet Archive [ref name=biog] which is a page at WesleyDennis.com entitled "The Early Years". It covers 1903 birth to 1941 first book and seems to be the only "Biography" page at WesleyDennis.com. It gives birthplace Davisville, Massachusetts. So does German Wikipedia, which lists that source (now numbered '2') among five [4] --all of which we previously linked as formal refs or External links.

We say Davisville is one of seven Falmouth, Massachusetts#Historic districts.

Reissues edit

Hastily I covered the current reissues of Henry novels in new section 2 Reissues. I don't like the heading. Feel free to change it or to eliminate the section by rearrangement. Some of the content can be worked into a chronological account: Henry arranged (contracted?) for Dennis to get books royalties; Dennis generally sold the original works; some books have continued in print but without his illustrations;

The crucial 2014 article identifies only the first six of 20 books to be reissued, three forthcoming fall 2014 and three spring 2015. All six of those are novels illustrated by Dennis. Misty is not among them; the trio of cover images at the top of the article are a mis-matched group. (ref name=PW2014)
