What Does This Mean?

I do not understand what this graph is showing. The curly line is very pretty, but surely impossible. What is the significance of the dots? Unless someone can enlighten me, I think it needs deleting. If you can enlighten me, I think it needs that explanation on the page too.

@Sirfurboy, it's a graph on the opinion polls, it is in the public opinion section. Dots are the individual polls listed in the table and the line is the average. I believe there are enough polls for this graph's inclusion. Open to a short explanation to be added, but I thought it was already clear? DankJae 09:48, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

Is it displaying differently for you? because I see a curly line, so that in 2016, for instance, the Keep values are 53, 54 and 55%, and in 2017, 53, 54 and 68%. A similar story for the elected head of state line. The graphic is drawn from markup so it is possible that this displays differently on different devices, but what I am seeing is nonsense. And in fact, tests show that it does display differently in Chrome. So this is strange. The question is what to do about it. The markup should display the same on all devices or else use of markup is going to be problemtic. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 09:57, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

@Sirfurboy, on the Chrome and Edge browsers it looks fine? But tested on Firefox browser, Chrome & Safari on IOS, if we're seeing the same thing it partly meanders in 2016-18? But yes that could be a wider issue with markup. In terms of reporting, not sure, but you could raise it at WP:TECHPUMP? DankJae 10:08, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

Curly in Firefox. What we have here is a case of interpolation where there are insufficient data points for a sensible curve to be drawn. Trying different values for |interpolate=bundle may help; I suggest either |interpolate=linear or |interpolate=basis. Also, that fifth date for |x=2009/06/24, 2018/05/18, 2019/02/23, 2019/11/04, 2022/03, 2023/03/23 is being misinterpreted, it could do with better precision - should it perhaps be 2022/03/01, 2022/03/15 or 2022/03/31? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 12:38, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

That fifth datapoint doesn't show on the graph in Firefox. When I change that fifth date to 2022/03/15 in Firefox it is plotted and the curve no longer loops the loop. The graph is now as shown in Edge. I think there is a still a problem is that the abolish monarchy line has three points on the curve and three below it, which I assume is due to lack of data and the large gap between first and second samples. —  Jts1882 | talk  13:01, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

I discovered the same and made the fix [1] before seeing your post. Template:Graph:Chart#Parameters says: "For date data input please use ISO date format (e.g. YYYY-MM-DD) acc. to date and time formats used in HTML. Shouldn't think so. Attempts to push sport into Welsh nationalism have been discussed before on other Welsh-related talk pages. The petition is not helpful to this article. Tony Holkham (Talk) 21:39, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Agree with above, it’s a minor petition, and we can’t give weight to every small petition. Plus a very minor topic among republicanism. Maybe if its enacted it could have a mention. DankJae 12:22, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

Separate YouGov May and July figures for 2023 need to be added to the table of opinion polls.
