@AwkwardViking: I reverted your good faith attempt to expand the description of the Imperium of Man. I think these descriptions should be brief. Just give the basic essence of each faction. Other editors are welcome to chime in if they disagree with me. Kurzon (talk) 19:33, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
I didn't mind their edit as it did cover all the other sub-factions that aren't mentioned elsewhere and without going into to too much detail. At the end of the day while Space Marines are the largest single faction in player terms, the other sub-factions still have a considerable (and growing) following. I'm okay to leave it in but open to dsicussion. I don't think it necessarily falls afoul of being too much fictional stuff, when it's really just 1 line descriptions of the armies that a player can actively play. One irony though, it would mean that the Space Marines are the only sub-faction where it's not actually described what they are :) Canterbury Tailtalk 19:46, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Canterbury Tail: There is no accounting for taste, and if other editors want more detail then I will acquiesce. Also, Space Marines have their own article on Wikipedia. Kurzon (talk) 19:52, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Doh!, so they do. Let's wait for others to put their viewpoints in. If we keep it to what the players can actively play I think we're good. If we really want to cut something from the article, may I suggest the Supplements and Expansions section (separate conversation there really.) Canterbury Tailtalk 19:56, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
My input on this older discussion: I personally think for explanation the length of these section is fine as they currently are. However there are secondary source which can be used to reference (and therefore put on a better basis) what we have and expand it, especially with some analysis. I have put a few on the top of this talk page. Daranios (talk) 15:58, 22 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hey @Daranios or anyone else interested, if you're looking for sources, you can check out User:BOZ/Games deletions#Warhammer 40,000 for a list of fictional topics previously covered on Wikipedia. :) For non-fictional topics, there are a lot fewer for Warhammer/WHRP/40K, but there are some such as:
@BOZ: Nice collection of sources! I personally have no ambitions of putting work in here (having more than enough other projects), but myself wanted to preserve the effort that has gone into search for sources during recent deletion discussions, by putting those sources here for easy reference. Daranios (talk) 20:05, 22 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough! If you ever come across anything more, at least now we can see what else might have potential. BOZ (talk) 04:15, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

"many customers of Games Workshop buy models simply to paint and display them.[citation needed]"
just like anything people collect. Car collectors don't drive the cars just display them. 2601:283:4E80:7C1B:D844:147:4754:67C3 (talk) 03:27, 14 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

I have seen on X, Telegram, and Youtube that one of the formations under the 116th Mechanized Brigade (Ukraine) has styled themselves the 'Khorne Group'. Has anyone come across a WP:RS reporting this? I'm mulling including it under the 'Reception' heading on this page, or alternatively, replacing that heading with a broader a 'Cultural Impact' heading. Riposte97 (talk) 02:48, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Any evidence it has any connection to Warhammer 40,000? Canterbury Tailtalk 02:50, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
