im currently writing a personal study for my a-level graphics course, i cannot seem to find out any information for when the WKD: do you have a wicked side? advertising campaign was first launched...this is quite important yet seems to be the hardest thing to discover, or maybe im just being stupid?

Drinkers

Although the WKD site states the dominant consumer of WKD is young men i find this very hard to believe. From personal experience i find that it is infact a predominantly female drink, to the point where young men who drink it are branded as "girlish" or "pussies". As much as the brewers and marketers might like to think otherwise, it is not a greatly popular drink among young men, certainly not seriously contending with beer, lager, or cider. Agreed, no 'young men' would be caught dead drinking WKD around here, just girls. In fact the only males I've seen drinking it were gay. Old m (talk) 16:54, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Well I'm not gay and when I was younger I used to drink this very often when out. The Irn-Bru one though, I would concede that other varieties seem to be drunk more by women. The only time I've drunk blue WKD is with a shot of port in it, which makes it taste like Vimto.

That's called a Cheeky Vimto - replace some of the port with neat vodka and you get an Extra Cheeky Vimto.

Pronunciation?

How is the name of this drink usually pronounced? Do people spell out W-K-D, or do they just ask for a "wicked"?83.109.72.15 (talk) 20:32, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

The company's advertising makes it quite clear that the product's name is pronounced "wicked" ("have you got a WKD side?" for instance). However, whilst incorrect, it should be noted that a minority of people do spell it out. It hasn't always been so clear - when the drink was first released, prior to the advertising campaigns, the name did cause confusion. I found that some bar staff would look blank if you asked for a "wicked"! So you would then have to spell it out. Actually, when it was first released, every label on WKD bottles contained a dictionary style entry explaining that WKD was pronounced 'wicked' Lumpold (talk) 23:25, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

WKD Blue flavour?

I can find no reference on http://www.wkd.co.uk to the flavour of the Blue variety being blueberry, and it certainly never tasted of blueberry to me. The website refers to it's flavour as "a refreshingly different flavour tenderly combined with vodka" and as far as I know, or can recall, the bottle lists it as "mixed fruit" (along with the Red and Silver ones).
