There's a WGSM AM station (740, Huntington, NY)

Not any more.... that station is WNYH. The call sign was changed September 1, 2005[1] - a year before this observation. The OnTheRadio web site still lists the call sign as WGSM, so it probably shouldn't be looked at as an authoritative source. The fact that an AM and FM station in different parts of the country have the same call sign is of no significance, since FM sigals tend to reach no further than about 25 miles.StreamingRadioGuide (talk) 14:03, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Like many radio station articles, this one appears to have ignored the wikipedia guideline that people affiliiated with the subject of the article should not write the article, as it is usually unsourced material that cannot be verified and ends up reading like an advertisement. I've stripped out most of the details about personalities, motivations of why people worked in which studio, how great a person the program director is, etc...

There appears to be a discrepancy between the "history" as originally entered and the FCC call sign history. The FCC tracks facilities and licensees. The FCC database says that prior to being WSSZ, the station was originally licensed as WPNT and then WOKU. Perhaps someone with more knowledge about the history can reconcile the facts. My guess is it is confusion of whether a "station" is an FCC license/facility or a frequency.StreamingRadioGuide (talk) 14:25, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
