Walter Fish: did he have a family with his first wife? edit

As a child, I lived next- door- but- one to Frank and Freda Bower (nee Fish) and their three daughters Caroline, Rebecca and Jane in leafy, quiet, Clapham Park London. Jane and I were born in 1942 and were friends from the the age of three until she died at the age of 59 -I was able to hold her hand and say goodbye after 56 years of friendship. Her mother, Freda, was a dear woman who was the daughter of an editor of the Daily Mail and I believe this to be Walter Fish -she would speak of one Margery Fish - the famous horticulturalist and I assume Margery was her stepmother? Frank Bower, Freda's husband, was of El Vino's fame ( founded by an uncle, Sir Alfred Bower, a former Lord Mayor?) and Frank would have been grandfather to Tess STIMSON a journalist and author, daughter of Jane. His nephew David Bower Mitchell took over El Vito's management when Frank retired and the company was originally founded by Sir Alfred Bower, a former Lord Mayor of London.

Can you help me please? I had a wonderful childhood and have many happy memories which stay vivid in my mind. I feel I should write a book.I'm eighty-one now - ouch - time is of the proverbial essence...

Thankyou.

I've looked at his obituaries in the Times and Guardian, and his Who Was Who profile, and none mention children, though that doesn't rule out the possibility. Warofdreams talk 00:51, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
He had two daughters, Muriel and Freda. Muriel was my grandmother. Her husband, Cyril George Montgomery, was killed in 1945 in a plane crash, leaving Muriel with three young children to raise on her own , one of whom was my mom, Frances. Jane and Caroline were my mothers cousins. I met them both at different times growing up.
