So, this guy is my hero. He founded the WV Historical Society, and was petty much there when WV was created. The book he wrote in 1889, which is still used by the WV State Archives as a reference, was called History of West Virginia in 2 parts. I own a physical copy, you can also get the free PDF....In order to even begin the editing, I thought I would throw out a message as I am being hounded by 2 editors who insist I lack common sense because I rely on references too much. Well here we are, NOT A SINGLE REF, on the person who pretty much created the entire modern idea of the History of the state of West Virginia...ANYONE???Coal town guy (talk) 15:52, 2 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

"In 1905, Governor Dawson appointed Lewis as the first director of the Bureau of Archives and History, a post which he held at the time of his death." is the exact sentence in this article and at the WV Encyclopedia site: https://www.wvencyclopedia.org/articles/1367

That (WV Encyclopedia site) site reads "In 1905, Governor Dawson appointed Lewis as the first director of the Bureau of Archives and History, a post which he held at the time of his death."
