Braj? edit
Are we sure that the Vinaya Patrika is written in Braj? That language is traditionally associated with Krishna bhakti literature, since it is spoken in the area surrounding Vrindavan and Mathura, and so it seems unusual to write Ram bhakti literature in Braj. Plus, Tulsidas' wrote his most famous work, the Ramcharitmanas, in Awadhi, which makes more sense, since it is spoken in the area surrounding Ayodhya. --Hnsampat (talk) 15:44, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- Vinaypatrika is definitely Braja language, like Hanuman Chalisa. It uses 'Haun' instead of 'Main' and 'Karahin' instead of 'Karata', typical Braja usages. I will find some references for it, but knowing both languages well enough to understand the distinction, I can assert that VP and HC are Braja while RCM is Awadhi.
