Talk:Vellus hair

Lanugo edit

I took out the un-sourced stuff about fetuses and anorexics in the last section of the sentence on Langue. This article is about Vellus hair so Langue can be mentioned but shouldn’t be elaborated upon and that stuff is better explained and sourced in the article on Langue anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.193.146.227 (talk) 01:21, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

As a person who has had to take volumes of hormonal medications, I tend to be skeptical about hormones not playing a part. Ones experience tends to differ w/what is being said on the page.

2cm? edit

Shouldn't it read that the hair is less than 2 millimeters, not centimeters? I would not call 2cm "peach fuzz". That would be plain old hair. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Conical Johnson (talkcontribs) 07:44, 15 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Vellus hair also has the characteristic that, unlike terminal or other hair, it is very difficult - and painful - to pull out or pluck. I think this should go in the article, but I have no sources so leave it to a better editor... Nick Michael (talk) 10:28, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't think you understood the question; or you've posted under the wrong section. JohndanR (talk) 00:39, 9 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

The unusual growth of vellus hair is a side effect of [...] mental disorders. edit

That can't be true. Haven't edited, but, really? Much noise (talk) 12:26, 24 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

It looks like this refers to the mention of anorexia nervosa, and that that is the only instance mentioned by the source. I am changing the paragraph, basically by deleting its intro sentence. SamuelRiv (talk)

The Sensory Function of Hairs edit

Hairs have a sensory function and it should get mentioned in the "Function" section. I think that it's a more demonstrable function than what is in there currently. There are good references for confirming that hairs have a sensory function, but I'm not sure any specifically refer to vellus hairs. The ones on my nose and forehead are very sensitive, but that's not a reference.Ken234Fabian (talk) 05:35, 12 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
