Notability

Thanks for whoever did this, but ValIT is effectively produced by ITGI and ISACA. ISACA is the older and more prestigious body. On notability issues, Val IT is still new, and is not a commercial product in the strictest sense. In it's field, it is becoming regarded by governments as authoritative. Again, consulting houses too often DO NOT want people to know of it. As initial author of the IT Portfolio Management article, and contributor to the IT Governance article, I concur that Val-IT is notable. It is an attempt at formalizing those disciplines by a well regarded organization with a consistent track record of execution, and therefore worthy of remaining. I am removing the tag. Charles T. I think there is room to add a kind of "weaknesses" section I see in other management methods. The quantitative risk and value analysis side of Val IT strikes me as pretty soft. From the online documents I've read about Val IT, they treat portfolio management not so much as a mathematical optimization method (like it is many other fields) but more about labeling risks and value as "high/medium/low". I find portfolio management in IT is a great departure from more mathematical methods, much to its detriment. When some concepts from tools like Modern Portfolio Theory are mentioned, they are misdefined (one chart in a Val IT document refered to an "efficient frontier" of investments in a way that had nothing to do with how the term is really used in MPT). Just a thought. I'm new to Wikipedia so I'll wait to see what happens and figure out some more features before I edit things.ChicagoEcon (talk) 03:29, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Relationship to CoBIT

Regarding to this page[1] VAL IT is not a framework for it goverance (anymore?). Please compare the section in the article with this one:
