Title should be "vahdat district". Vakhdat is a transliteration from Russian (they don't have any letter for "h" and show it by "х" (kh), unlike Tajiks which use another letter "ҳ", to distinguish it from "х"). A simple google search shows that "vahdat district" is more frequently used (and is used in official English pages, related to Tajikistan). Alefbe (talk) 03:46, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you are right, and the town is called Vahdat in Wikipedia. Please leave it to me to fix (changing "Vakhdat" to "Vahdat") because there are many consistency ramifications for these variant spellings in Wiki. Changing Vakhdat to Vahdat edit

When I created a new page for Vakhdat district on April 18, 2008, I was transliterating from the Russian spelling Вахдат. I was not aware at the time that the Tajik spelling is in fact Ваҳдат, with the letter "ҳ", and not "х". As pointed out by Alefbe (see above), the Tajik word Ваҳдат (with the letter "ҳ") is pronounced "Vahdat", and not "Vakhdat" (which would be the pronunciation for the spelling Вахдат with the letter "х"). Based on this explanation by Alefbe, I am now moving my original article "Vakhdat district" to Vahdat district (with a redirect from "Vakhdat" to "Vahdat"). I will also change to "Vahdat" all other occurrences of "Vakhdat" that I have generated over time in Wikipedia. The use of "Vahdat district" will make the district name consistent with the name of the town, which has always been called Vahdat in Wikipedia. --Zlerman (talk) 14:40, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
