Competitors edit

Is there a list of competing event databases?

I'll add them. Good catch. Airplaneman 03:46, 10 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I noticed this claim in the section: "Many competitors have emerged since Upcoming was launched in 2003, including Eventful." As of today, there is no listing of these, and no reference supporting the claim. At most, we're seeing three competitors listed (Eventful, Last.fm and iLike). I do not believe that the word "many" would be commonly applied to a list that short. So, isn't this original research, and other bad things? OK, I've removed the claim that many competitors had emerged, and changed it to "at least one", the link to Eventful, perhaps, being acceptable as a reference? Even that's a reach, but let's not turn this into a revert war. I slightly changed this sentence - "Music sites later branched out into this space, such as last.fm and iLike, building on their knowledge of their users' tastes" - replacing "music sites" with "some of the music sites". The prose doesn't flow as nicely, but under the old phrasing, the sentence could be read as meaning that all music sites were doing this. Do we know that this is true? If not, should the phrasing not be clear enough, that an original research claim could not reasonably be read into the passage? Or am I just being a royal pain? Belated, but just noticed this, and I've done some research in the past, and may still be interesting to someone:

Active competitors (in some sense) in the music field (in addition to those already mentioned):

I'm sure there's quite a few that are not music-specific, but my interests didn't cover that. There's also a dozen or more that have came-and-went in the last decade or so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bsammon (talkcontribs) 05:10, 2 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
