What's this about a two-thirds majority for the House of Commons to approve an amendment? As far as I know a bare majority (50% + 1) is all that's required. (Of course, the Senate and a certain number of provincial houses -- depending on the nature of the amendment -- have to approve as well). Indefatigable 20:11, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yep, section 38 of the Constitution Act, 1982 just says "38. (1) An amendment to the Constitution of Canada may be made by proclamation issued by the Governor General under the Great Seal of Canada where so authorized by (a) resolutions of the Senate and House of Commons..."
