Not a manufacturer edit

United Australian Automobile Industries was not a manufacturer. All of the vehicles were manufactured by Holden and Toyota Australia, the Holden Apollo and Holden Nova at Toyota's Melbourne plants, the Toyota Lexcen at Holden's Adelaide plant. Thus it is not correct to have UAAI as the manufacturer. Baurajet (talk) 00:53, 25 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

This has made me rethink my position a bit. The usual practice for Wikipedia is to list the manufacturer as the name that appears on the license papers - which typically agrees with the badge that appears on the car. The factory that it is assembled in is irrelevant. So the manufacturer of a Holden Nova is Holden. And the manufacturer of the equivalent Toyota Corolla built in the same plant would be Toyota.
Similar issues arise for Toyota vehicles built in Hino factories, Lexus vehicles built in Toyota factories, the Supra built from many BMW parts and the GT86/BRZ built from many Subaru parts in a Subaru factory. In all of them, the name on the license papers (and hence the badge) is used as the manufacturer.  Stepho  talk  00:27, 27 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
