Disputed Decommissioning Date? edit

I have to ask, which decomm date is correct? The one published at navy.mil or the one on the NVR site?

According to navy.mil: USS Camden Ends 38-plus Years of Navy Service

By Fred Miles Watson, Naval Base Kitsap Public Affairs

BREMERTON, Wash. (NNS) -- The fast combat support ship USS Camden (AOE 2) was decommissioned Sept. 29 at Pier Delta at Naval Base Kitsap, ending 38 years of naval service.

Which differs from the NVR reported decomm date of 14 October 2005. NVR still lists Camden as Navy property also. However, NVR says that the date that Camden was stricken is also the same day that it was decomm'd. Could this be an error on NVR's part?

Just asking.

Ship's Fate edit

I have updated the ship's fate. Last time I did this, it was reverted. However, it has been confirmed by the Navy and by Esco that Camden has been completely demolished as of 13 May. The link to the NVR page also confirms this. To avoid confusion about the ship's actual fate, please leave it be. Thanks AJB93 (talk) 17:33, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Final Helos Were SH-60 SeaHawks edit

There are several pictures that clearly show that Camden was equipped with SH-60 SeaHawks. This was changed on 19 May 2010 by 75.73.96.142 "Changed Helicopter back to ch-46, I served on this ship for 5 years. Worked as ships Oil King, We had CH-46 Helos."

I also served on this ship (In the mid-80's) in the 1st Division. We were using CH-46 SeaKnights at the time, but this was obviously changed by the time she was decomm'ed.

Her final complement should be the one that this article cites. Rev.S.Lee (talkcontribs) 07:49, 21 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
