Hello from an old shipmate edit

My name is Enrique J. Rodriguez and I was a Machinst Mate E5 aboard the USS Brush from May 1963 to May 1965. The ship was stationed in Long Beach, California but went on three West Pack Cruises during this time. I don't know if anyone 'out there' will really remember me, but those days were days I'll never forget, as I guess, no one can forget the times that shaped our lives. I was young and, well - young. If I could go back and redo the things I did, I'd enjoy the time - more, by taking things easy, looking at the beauty of everything around me, appreciating my youth, my stamina, my health, the things that slowly leave us, just as the ship is retired, they also are put aside after so many years. There were so many good young men that I served with: John Kaiserlik - let me use his ID so I could get into a bar, but he was from Wisconsin, tall, lanky, white and I was from Texas, Mexican, dark, shorter than him...HA! I got thrown out of a couple of bars before I figured that wasn't going to work. John Philp Ackly from Wash. state - he and I went out with a couple of girls in his car, didn't do much, were mostly broke (nothing new) and were starving to death by the time we got back to Long Beach. We had enough for a hamburger with no coke and it was so - good! I wanted to sleep with his girl cousin but she didn't.....and so it goes....So many people, good people, formative years....enriquej@flash.net I am now working/living in the Middle East, am the Training Manager for a large US company building LNG plants here. I have a Masters from Univ. Houston and am always proud to have served in the USN! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.42.2.27 (talk) 13:07, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
