Article name edit

Someone with sufficient privileges should move this page to UPM. I can't do that myself because UPM currently redirects to another page. (The Spanish language abbreviation of the university name could be handled with a disambig note in the top of the page in the future.) --Jonik 20:49, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

"UPM Oyj (formerly UPM-Kymmene)" I would like to see a source for this. On their site they use both. The company certainly still trades in the Helsinki stock exhange under the name "UPM-Kymmene Oyj". In fact I have never heard anybody refer to the company without the Kymmene part before... Their Annual report start with "Annual General Meeting UPM-Kymmene Corporation will hold its Annual General Meeting..." (finn: "UPM-Kymmene Oyj:n varsinainen yhtiökokous pidetään...").
Even if the prefer to be called UPM, I have seen no proof that the official, legal name has changed (so the article should beging: "UPM (officially UPM-Kymmene Oyj)". 82.181.150.151 20:50, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Joint corporate information system of the National Board of Patents and Registration and the Tax Administration confirms that the official name is UPM-Kymmene Oyj. In that light, I would very much prefer that the article name would use this form (maybe omitting the "Oyj" company type designation), even if the company is frequently (even its own material) referred as just UPM. That would also avoid the need for disambiguation. Hookoo 08:30, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I was the one who moved the page to here in August 2006. At the time, the OMX group website had changed the official name of the listing to simply UPM Oyj. However, I note that UPM-Kymmene Oyj has been reinstated there. On the official UPM website, UPM-Kymmene is used (only) in investor relation matters. There are certainly grounds to move the article back to UPM-Kymmene. Gr1st 18:32, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Number of Employees edit

So how many Employees do they have now? 29,000 or 36,000? I removed the higher number as the german page states 29,000, too. --193.166.89.126 14:54, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Second nursery edit

The "Uruguay" section of the "Global operations" section of this article reads: "In February 2011, UPM announced a plan to build a second nursery in Uruguay (...)". And then, it goes on to tell how, in 2020, the 3rd nursery construction started. I'm not sure the second one came to fruition, though. Did it? Can anyone confirm or deny this? - Joaquin89uy (talk) 17:48, 8 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

On Uruguay's UPM plants edit

I think the paragraph including "Currently, UPM contaminates water courses in Uruguay while consuming more potable water than the whole population of the country." comes off as not neutral and should be removed unless it gets a citation as needed.
