Type 77 and Walther PP edit

Does anyone know if this gun is related to/inspired by/based on the Walther PP? They fire similar cartridges, and resemble each other. I don't want to add it if it's not true, so someone who knows for sure please help me out.

Right now the article lists the design date as 1976 but the 'in-service' date as 1965. Anyone know the correct dates? 174.97.175.50 (talk) 12:40, 1 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
