  • Hi, I'll review this article. You might be puzzled by why you didn't have to wait for a month before getting a review, but I've written so many articles about extinct parrots lately that I thought it would be interesting to read something about an extant one... FunkMonk (talk) 13:31, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm, 'insanely grateful' might be a more apt description...but hey Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 14:07, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
The video doesn't seem relevant under feeding, and doesn't really add much, compared to some of the unused photos, for example. FunkMonk (talk) 13:33, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Good point - will have a look and shuffle.... Cas Liber (talk · contribs)
  • For a start, the article feels a little empty, sure no other images here could be added?[1] FunkMonk (talk) 13:31, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Added a couple. Am not keen on using lots of captivity ones with cages in them. Also they are some off solour variants. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 14:19, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
I understand the concern, but there doesn't seem to be a clear image of a male anywhere in the article. Perhaps consider one of these?[2][3][4] Also, you could add the "upright" parameter to the vertical images, so they don't take up so much space. FunkMonk (talk) 15:04, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Any range map? I could make one, if you provide a source. FunkMonk (talk) 13:31, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Damn...forgot about that. Will double check on sources but I need to get to sleep now...late here. Back tomorrow.rangemap added now Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 14:19, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • The synonyms need dates, and not sure why Bechstein isn't spelled out? FunkMonk (talk) 13:32, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Dates added - aaah as a botanist he's abbreivated and zoologist he's not..interesting Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 12:05, 7 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
nice find - added Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 12:30, 7 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • The article doesn't clarify whether the authors of the synonyms were aware that it had been described already?
I haven't seen a secondary source discussing this. Will take a look at the descriptions and see what else there is. Levaillant doesn't say much at all, from what I can discern from my rudimentary French... Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 19:42, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • "the species name being the Medieval Latin word azureus "blue"." Needs a source.
added Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 20:34, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Invalid subspecies should be listed in the taxobox as synonyms as well.
added Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 21:39, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • "The name red-shouldered parakeet was incorrectly applied to this species." What does it apply to then?
the source doesn't say on that page, however I will check something else. aaah paradise parrot... Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 21:46, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • "Its neck and upperparts are grass-green, and tail is grass-green with yellow borders" Never seen a sentence like this, is it correct English?
See, as a native English speaker, it seems natural to me - however, I have a tendency of dropping words a bit much for most people. Happy to go with consensus and ask some others. tweaked now Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 21:39, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'm no native speaker, so I trust that you know better. FunkMonk (talk) 14:49, 9 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • "The throat and chest are pale green and belly is yellow." Same here?
tweaked now Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 03:10, 9 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • "and has been recorded as black while nesting." Any explanation why?
none that I could find Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 21:40, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • "Juvenile birds of both sexes have less extensive blue faces" Blue on their faces?
added Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 21:39, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • "Their eyes open by day seven, and they are covered with grey down by day seven or eight." Wouldn't this fit better under breeding or behaviour?
moved Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 21:39, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • "Previously it had been recorded as far north as the Suttor River and Mackay." When is previously?
pre 1945 - tweaked Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 15:24, 9 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • "it vanished from much of its range" Why?
I've written about what it in the conservation section - the populations do seem to vary wildly, but there has been alot of clearing that has removed nesting sites (they need to be in mature trees). Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 22:06, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • "That year, many aviary species including several species of Australian parrot and members of the genus Neophema had exhibited neurological symptoms reminiscent of Newcastle disease." Sounds weird it was only that year, what happened since?
I have no idea - I don't recall any specific years since getting coverage as such. It seems as though there are sporadic outbreaks among parrots in captivity in general. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 07:54, 10 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • The lead seems a bit short for an article of this length.
lead expanded Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 08:00, 10 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Alright, fixes look good. Only point remaining is whether a clear image if a male should be added? There's a good one of the female, but none of the male. These appear to be our best ones:[5][6][7] FunkMonk (talk) 14:07, 10 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
One added now - some birds in captivity have more orangey colour than wild ones usually have - so picked the most natural/default-looking one... Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 20:41, 10 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Ok, the sources look solid, I'll go ahead and promote this. The range map could need a full citation on the Commons page, otherwise hard to know what publication "Higgins" refers to. FunkMonk (talk) 20:49, 10 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
