Cleanup edit

Commenced edit to remove copyright (cut&paste) violation - copy of article Jeriel Bey wrote. Problems with references: First reference is a dead link. From article reference details, it appears to be based on interview with Jeriel Bey.

Second reference is interview with Jeriel Bay, and a member of dance group "The Architeckz" that Jeriel Bey founded and leads.

Third reference is also an interview with Jeriel Bey.

Forth reference is credible mention of a video by rapper E-40, however the video has been removed due to copyright violation claim by Warner Music Group[1] .

Fifth reference is incorrect, but searching the site finds a reference to turf dancing "include popping, locking, and miming",[2]. The article is not referenced by a writer name. Eastbayexpress hosts free lance articles for its local area, and this includes Oatland.[3] The "Best of" category published each year "often include a large volume of freelance material"[4] Jeriel Bay and his dance group are from Oatland. It is unclear if the reference is freelance work or not.

Sixth reference is credible mention explaining the term "going dumb".

Found two further references, but neither is of high quality that I would use: 1. Urban dictionary that suggests the term "turf dancing" didn't originate in Oakland, but in Sacramento.[5].

2. A reference on Insanemom website[6], but note that this is the only article on dancing. No updates to this site since July 2011. This article may have copyright (copy&paste) issues.

Unable to find creditable references to update this article to remove copyright violations. It appears that Turf Dancing is a style of dancing, but I'm not finding any references that would suggest its a major style on its own. This article may be better handled as a section in Krumpting, rather then deletion, or a stub. Wanderoz (talk) 07:58, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Connecting Turfing to the accurate Boogaloo dance edit

Hi fellow editors,

I wanted to flag the current "boogaloo" link about the origins of Turfing is incorrect. The statement is accurate that Turfing comes from 1960s Boogaloo dancers. The issue is the accurate page that talks about the 1960's Oakland Boogaloo dancers is still in Draft form. I have compiled research on this topic and have submitted an Article currently: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Boogaloo_(dance). Any tips on speeding up the review process? What should be done in the interim re: inaccurate link? Thanks.

New etymology section edit

I suggest somebody make a new section titled Etymology and move all of the naming information there. Also, the information about the meanings of the dance (discrimination against black people etc.) should go to the intro. 87.116.161.31 (talk) 16:41, 12 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
