Contest the speedy deletion request edit

Here's a few of the many reasons why Trek Earth is significant:

  1. Wikipedia itself refers to TrekEarth over 195 times : see here.
  2. According to an article on First Monday (a peer-reviewed internet journal), TrekEarth critiques are "excellent examples of word bytes". Not only does this demonstrate the importance of the critiquing system on TrekEarth, but it also shows how popular the site is.
  3. Perhaps this isn't a credible source for significance, but the 126 reviews of TrekEarth.com on StumbleUpon (see here) show both the popularity as well as the effectiveness of the site.
  4. An interview of professional travel photographer Todd Adams starts with description of Adams' portfolio on TrekEarth. Adams further mentions in his interview that TrekEarth is one of his favorite sites, and that he finds professional-quality photographers on the site.
  5. The French and Portuguese stubs existed long before I created this article on the English Wikipedia. It's evident that there are people across the globe who think we need an article on TrekEarth here on Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bmukh (talkcontribs) 00:35, 31 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
  6. Last but not least, Third Eye Photo Creations places TrekEarth right after Flickr and Shutterfly among the best photo sharing sites.

I vote for keeping the article. What about you?

Status and Advice edit

we don't do it by votes at this stage. As reviewing administrator, I think this shows enough importance so as not to appropriate for speedy deletion. But it does need references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. I emphasise the third-party requirement--they must be independent of the site -- information about the site from reliable outside sources. I advise you to add these very quickly, before the article gets nominated for deletion by a regular deletion process.

Furthermore, the article is to be written for the general public, not for the membership. It is written to describe, not to promote its virtues or say how good it is. I made some changes in this direction, and it requires some more. DGG ( talk ) 19:02, 31 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks very much for the advice. I'm working on adding Third party citations - I've already added that First Monday article. I'll add more 3rd party information and citations as I come across them. Bmukh (talk) 19:51, 31 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
