Needs better lattitude and longitude coordinates edit

I tried to find this location in Google Earth, and the coordinates (-53.0, -73.0) end up in Argentina. I realize this is close, but it's not close enough. turns out it is :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.7.17.3 (talk) 16:43, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fires section now misleading edit

After the latest rounds of edits, the Fires section is incomplete and misleading. The section says that the Israeli and Czech governments donated help after the fires. That's clearly relevant to the park, and I think should remain in the article. As it stands now, why those governments gave money to the park is unclear --- out the goodness of their hearts? To promote environmentalism? To make Chile happy? The previous version explained they did it because their own citizens started the fires, and it was restitution. I think that the deleted material should be restored. What do other editors think? —hike395 (talk) 18:54, 18 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

The deleted material looked on topic to me. Thanks, ♫ SqueakBox talk contribs 19:00, 18 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
I left the data about the governments in order to obtain an agreement with you. IMO, it should also be deleted.
This is an article about the Torres del Paine National Park. I repeat, it is about a Park. What has the name of an unfortunate tourist with the NationalPark?. Why is his name in the article and not the name of the Japanese tourist?, Why should Wikipedia says that the Israeli tourist was detained on suspicion of causing the fire but a Japanese tourist started a fire?. The problem is that the old version relates too much about an issue that doesn't belong to the theme. Moreover WP:NOTNEWS means that such persons, nationalities and incidents haven't enciclopedic merit. For me is important that Editors must take particular care when adding information about living persons to any Wikipedia page (WP:ALIVE)
You don't agree with me?. Then, tell me the names, nationalities and incidents occurred in the Yosemite National Park (3,853,404 visits in 2012) regarding fires, robberies, drugs deals, trafic incidents, crimes, love stories, etc. Do you find this "facts" in the (featured) article?.
Very different is the case of issues like Wildfire suppression, Controlled burn, or Firefighting. I would celebrate that SqueakBox or Hike395 add some new section about.

I believe that making an analogy to drug deals and robberies is a false equivalence. Those two fires harmed large fractions of Torres del Paine park --- the fires and their causes are clearly on-topic for the article. The best analogy would be the Yellowstone fires of 1988, which does mention "man cutting timber dropped his cigarette in Caribou-Targhee National Forest just outside the park's western border" as the start of one of the fires (with a citation).
We don't have to mention the Czech backpacker's name, if you believe that conflicts with WP:ALIVE. The minimal edit would have been to delete just the name. Deleting all of the causes of the fires seems excessive.
WP:NOTNEWS is not applicable, because these fires are not breaking news, but are now part of the history of the park. —hike395 (talk) 03:50, 20 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
There is no comparison between the "Fires" section and the Yellowstone fires of 1988, a featured article. "man cutting timber dropped his cigarette in Caribou-Targhee National Forest just outside the park's western border" are 17 words in a 60 KBytes page!. Moreover, in Yosemite 36% of the Park was affected, in TdP only 5% (150-170km2 of 2,400 km2, but native forest was less affected).
What is your proposal?
