Flagpole roundels edit
Anyone know the original purpose of the flagpole roundels? There are lots of them throughout the Underground, especially on the Morden extension stations, but I've never seen any picture with a flag on the pole. Was the pole really intended as a flagpole, or just an ornament? Mtford 20:02, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
- Just ornamental. London's Transport Museum has many pictures of stations with the flagpole roundels but none of them show a flag flying or appear to have the necessary equipment to hoist a flag - see here. The pole is probably there as an architectural statement to draw the eye. --DavidCane 22:36, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
