Noel Coward in 1998? edit

From the start of the article on Tony Walton I read

Walton was born in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey. He began his career in 1998 with the stage design for Noel Coward's Broadway production of Conversation Piece.

So obviouly a few decades out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.103.171.229 (talk) 05:23, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

... And still wrong. edit

Now someone has revised the sentence to state that Mr. Walton "began his career in 1948 with the stage design for Noel Coward's Conversation Piece."

Assuming Walton's birthdate is given correctly, the young -- very young -- Englishman would have hopped the puddle to make his Broadway design debut at the tender age of fourteen: perhaps not technically impossible, but utterly, wildly unlikely.

In any case, the Internet Broadway Database lists Conversation Piece as having had only a single B'way production ...in 1934, the year Walton was born.

It's conceivable that the show might have had a West End revival around 1948, though I still strongly question the likelihood of its having been designed by a fourteen-year-old.

I can't vouch for Walton's birthdate (though '34 seems plausible), nor do I know the correct date, title or venue of his professional debut; but I rather doubt that all (or perhaps any) of the current info in that sentence is correct.
