Bad Link edit

The biography link to MSN has gone bad.

Personal Life edit

There is nothing about his personal life, such as children.

Movie edit

I recall this man was in a movie called Zotz. I wonder if anyone can put up something about it?

Gay? edit

Was Tom Poston gay (before he got married to Suzanne Pleshette)?

I recall him saying (seriously, I thought), "..I'm gay..", on a talk show many years ago (maybe the old Late Night with David Letterman show).

Was it a joke? Or was it true?

I think I remember the sketch, and it was trademark Poston deadpan. --Dhartung | Talk 04:18, 2 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Air Medal edit

Which is it: an Air Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster representing TWO awards; or an Air Medal with TWO Oak Leaf Clusters represeting a total of three awards? It's one oak leaf cluster per additional award (silver = 5 additional awards). Citations needed? edit

After seeing my additions of "Citation needed" templates reverted twice, I am seeking feedback from other editors; the editor who reverted and I obviously have differing viewpoints. The edit summary accompanying the second removal of the templates says, in part, "... If we add a reference for every easily verifiable fact the article will be cluttered."

In light of that edit summary, how many of the following items qualify as exceptions to Wikipedia:Verifiability? How many are "easily verifiable"?

  • Poston's birth name
  • Poston's date of birth
  • Poston's winning an Emmy Award and being nominated for three more
  • Poston's being cast in a film from which his scenes were deleted
  • Poston's role in a play in St. Louis
  • Poston's being a longtime friend of Bob Newhart

With regard to the Emmy items, the edit summary also said, in part, "An Emmy nod doesn't require a citation as it's already indexed here on Wiki." I have understood that content of each article needs its own sourcing, regardless of whether it is sourced elsewhere in Wikipedia.

I consider good sourcing to be a strength of a Wikipedia article, rather than seeing it as clutter. How are exceptions like those itemized above decided? Eddie Blick (talk) 03:04, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
