Adding info about the election edit

I went ahead and included info about him winning the Democratic Party's endorsement vote with a 70% majority as that seems significant and will undoubtedly impact the election in a big way.

Allegations of violating the political reform act edit

Should probably take note of recent allegations that Gloria violated the Political Reform Act with regards to his 2020 re-election campaign, along with rebuttals that his actions were not illegal or abnormal. The allegations have been published in several news sources (NBC, ABC, and others) and a lawsuit has been filed, making it a matter of public scandal. I added a section on his mayoral campaign and the main issues he is running on (there was not one already?) and on the recent scandal about the campaign funds. I tried to present the allegations and their rebuttals in as neutral a light as possible, but I'd appreciate other eyes on it to make sure it's up to Wikipedia standards. And if anyone could add extra info regarding his campaign, platforms, etc that would be great. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KoenigWrites (talkcontribs) 08:52, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

While it does seem like this issue is worth mentioning in the article given all the media attention, I'd probably recommend keeping it to just a sentence or two with the allegation and the candidate's response. Including all the back and forth gives undue weight to what may end up being a pretty minor violation per the quoted articles (see WP:WEIGHT). mcd51 (talk) 04:19, 22 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for giving it a look and editing it. I think it works well. KoenigWrites (talk) 00:44, 25 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Importance edit

Should be at a point to remove the needs to be sourced template fairly quickly. XinJeisan (talk) 21:49, 13 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

What to call him? edit

Apparently the role he is filling right now has no title in the city charter and does not include the full powers of an elected mayor. Most Reliable Sources are using the title "interim mayor" or "acting mayor". More confusing is the "City Council President" title. I read that he is keeping the title but transferring the duties to the council president pro tem Sherri Lightner. (I saw that in the paper edition of the U-T but can't find a link to it.) --MelanieN (talk) 19:08, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Someone has started the same discussion at Talk:Mayor of San Diego so I will move my comments there. --MelanieN (talk) 19:10, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Reads Like a Campaign Ad edit

This page reads like an ad for Todd Gloria for San Diego Mayor 2020, which I don't think is supposed to be the point of Wikipedia since it links to a specific page for that. Is there any way to mark this page for potential bias and to add fact checked criticism to be consistent with other candidate pages? Should we be citing his campaign website? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BanjoDarrell (talkcontribs) 21:33, 25 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
