Competencia edit

Mtiedemann 17:56, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Universal suffrage edit

Grate article! I'm not sure how can we mix socio-political events in Argentine history with Sports-SCiences and Arts. I would have only the most important Sports and Sciences events (Nobel, world Cups) without disrrupting too much.

Another thing, the article says that the Universal male suffrage was introduced in 1916, but the Ley Sáenz Peña of 1912 is said to have allowed Yrigoyen to the Presidency. Mariano(t/c) 08:11, 25 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Other issues edit

I agree that non-socio-political events should be restricted to the most visible and universally recognised achievements, such as Nobel Prizes, Oscars, FIFA World Cups and perhaps Argentina's first participation in international events and bodies.

It occurs to me that we need to add Argentina's notional entry into World War II and its subsequent entry into the United Nations as a founding member as the only non-Allied nation (although it HAD declared war on the Axis). I don't have the dates to hand.

As this is English Wikipedia, I considered adding events that are more important in English-speaking countries than in the Argentine view of their own history - Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Jabez Balfour, (Evita (musical)??), etc. I already put some of these things in, such as Darwin, Jemmy Button, Barings Bank, even Che Guevara. How comfortable is everybody with this?

I am sure Mariano is right with the 1912/1916 issue - I used an economic history timeline as the basis of the post 1900 list, which this was listed in, but there were a couple of other discrepancies.

Oh and 'competencia'??!! ¿Cuál fue el premio? Mtiedemann 08:38, 25 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, English-world oriented events could be given priority, though I'm not much for Cassidy's wereabouts. Also, I would remove the ARA X replaced ARA Y thingy, and other less important local military news, perhaps with the exception of the technical achievements of the Pampa, Pucara and Pulqui aircrafts.
Mariano(t/c) 11:54, 25 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
