Translation of "Tifereth תפארת" edit

This page mentions the translation as "Glory/Splendor". The Kabbalic page Tiferet - "Adornment".

The source for this term "Tiferth Yisrael" is a verse in Lamentations 2:1: אֵיכָה֩ יָעִ֨יב בְּאַפּ֤וֹ ׀ ה' אֶת־בַּת־צִיּ֔וֹן הִשְׁלִ֤יךְ מִשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ אֶ֔רֶץ תִּפְאֶ֖רֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְלֹא־זָכַ֥ר הֲדֹם־רַגְלָ֖יו בְּי֥וֹם אַפּֽוֹ׃.

Sefaria - Has cast down from heaven to earth The majesty of Israel.^[1]
Chabad - He has cast down from heaven to earth the glory of Israel,^[2]
Mechon Mamre - He hath cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel,^[3]

"Tifereth" can and has been translated many ways, some more literal than others. Are you arguing that every synagogue listed here was named after the phrase in the verse in Lamentations? Anyway, even if they were, there are many Bible translations that use "splendor" (in addition to "glory" or "beauty"); see here. Jayjg ^(talk) 19:57, 29 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
