What about the other thought suppression? edit

This thought suppression page is about stopping your own thoughts, but what about the kind of thought suppression that Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler and others tried to do? They tried to stop the thoughts of the citizens by repressive force in order to force the citizens to support their regime.

I believe you're looking for Mind control, or perhaps Political repression? There's no reason "thought suppression" *couldn't* have a political meaning, but I've simply never heard it used that way. Since it's a common term in the field of psychology which has a particular meaning within that context and is unused or underused outside of it, I think it's fair to keep the article as it is. If, however, you can prove that the term is being used widely in other contexts, then we should make note of that or add a disambiguation. -- Fullobeans (talk) 09:51, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Does this article need a reference to Doublethink, from George Orwell's 1984? edit

I think a connection to doublethink is needed, both ways, from here to doublethink, and from doublethink to thought suppression. Just an idea, because it's a form of thought suppression. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.241.137.124 (talk) 18:03, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Clearness edit

The article is not very readable and is not ordered well. --Aleksd (talk) 13:32, 12 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Article needs rewritten. Simpler terminology edit

I found the article to have a few statements that were difficult to follow, because of terminology. Article needs to be rewritten for laymen to read and easily comprehend. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.64.72.249 (talk) 20:41, 8 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I have also found it a bit difficult to follow, not simply because of terminology, but also because a lack of logical and grammatical structure and order. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.202.242.112 (talk) 02:38, 28 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
