Death edit

Posted on his official Facebook page, confirmed by others in his circle, ie [1], [2] . He's had cancer for some time, his passing probably isn't going to make Time Magazine, lets be real here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.105.44.47 (talkcontribs)

https://www.savingcountrymusic.com/legendary-guitarist-singer-and-entertainer-thom-bresh-dies/ Would this be an acceptable source for death? DonaldD23 talk to me 03:41, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
No. Saving Country Music is a blog run entirely by one person, who uses a pen name. There is no editorial oversight of any kind, and consensus at WP:RSN is that it is a self published source not suitable for use as a reference. @TenPoundHammer:, we've used Saving Country Music as a citation on hundreds of articles before. I've never seen anyone challenge it as a source, even in instances as a reference for death on the main Deaths in 2022 page. I don't see why it would fail WP:RS in this case. Blogs are not ALWAYS disallowed as sources, particularly if there is nothing else available in their place and the accuracy of said blog isn't in question. There has been lots of discussion about Bresh's death on social media incl. Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, as well as on several forums. His death is not in dispute. Saving Country Music will suffice until (or if) a superior source emerges. Also, I will just add that contrary to your claim above, it's just not true that official channels on Facebook and Twitter can never be used as sources. A consensus was reached here that Saving Country Music is a self published source and is not reliable. As of this writing, there are no pages that use it as a source or external link. Neither of the Social Media links shared by the IP above are official accounts, so they are not reliable. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 15:54, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's a moot point, because we now have coverage from MusicRow, which is a reliable source. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 15:55, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
