Similarity to Star Trek II? edit
Is it worth noting that the solution to Troi's test is the same used to save the Enterprise in Star Trek II? In that movie, a crewman (Spock) repairs the warp drive by going into an enclosed area where he is subjected to radiation poisoning. With the warp drive restored, the Enterprise can escape from a deadly explosion. Except that, unlike Troi, Kirk apparently doesn't consider sacrificing one crewman (like a redshirt) to save his ship and all the others on board. And if worth noting, perhaps a cross reference in the article for Star Trek II as well. Just1thing (talk) 02:20, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Riker didn't spill the beans edit
I made a slight edit regarding the Troi plot. It's a bit of a stretch to say that Riker "gave her a hint", when all he was doing was explaining his own justification for cancelling further tests. His exact words were something like, "As much as I care about you, my first duty is to the ship. I cannot allow any bridge officer to serve that is not qualified. I'm sorry." Earlier in the episode, he explains that it's forbidden to provide any "hints", so it would be glaringly inconsistent if that were his intent here.
It's true that after Riker leaves, Troi repeats the words "my first duty is to the ship". She has an epiphany, but to say that she was led there by Riker I think is inaccurate and really deflates the power of that moment if you ask me. 148.87.23.17 (talk) 21:50, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
