"Christian family"
There was reference in passing that one of B.-H.'s ancestors married into a "Christian" family that seemed very odd to me, as I think Christianity is a pretty safe assumption for members of the 19th century German elite and doesn't need to be called out without specific reason. I see from this talk page that there was at one point material in this article based on (erroneous?) sources that B.-H. had some Jewish ancestry, and I assume this reference to a Christian family is a relic of that phase of the article. I've removed it. If it's restored, there should be some explanation of why this ancestor's Christianity was noteworthy. --Jfruh (talk) 20:17, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
Hyphen or not?
As far as I know he is not spelled with a hyphen between Bethmann and Hollweg, but rather simply by leaving a space between the two components. My history teacher always told me that you could tell a thoroughly researched book on the German empire from lack of a Bethmann Hollweg-hyphen. Don't know if that's true, but the German version of Wikipedia treats it this way as well - without a hyphen. --Jinxo 00:09, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

- Why has the article not been moved? The incorrect hyphenated spelling should not be kept, confusing anyone who looks it up. Languagehat (talk) 21:44, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
