Reviewed shortly after publication by John Updike in The New Yorker. Clifton Fadiman was also the series editor.

The book was a main selection of the Book of the Month Club at a time when their main selections sold in very large numbers. Hence, it may possibly be the best-selling anthology in the history of the science fiction field. --12.6.201.2 18:58, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
