Opinionated Much? edit
The "Politics" section is nothing more than some old hippy's personal feelings on the subject. How do i mark this article as questioned?
- As an old hippy myself, I do tend to agree somewhat with the above (unsigned) sentiments, so I've had a go at de-POV-ing that bit of the text (which originated from an early 2004 draft, not by me). Change it if you don't like it. Ghmyrtle 09:07, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Bands inspired by The United States of America edit
Is it just me or is the part about the british band similar to the USA, not only slightly off topic but a touch disjointed as written. Actually all the other band references should probally either be ommitted or moved to a seperate totally different section of the article. --69.58.167.121 20:28, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
I agree - Curved Air may have been influenced by the USA, but their only real similarities were in having a female singer and electric violin.Ghmyrtle 08:24, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- I think a section with bands that have been inspired by USA is a good thing. Besides have you ever listened to Broadcast? If a band deserves to be listed here as a being influenced by USA then it's them, because the music is actually more USA than the original, IMHO. :D --87.122.0.44 14:07, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Personally, I think Curved Air has absolutely nothing in common with The USA except that they used a violin and had a female vocalist. If those are the only criteria for being "inspired by the USA" then Fairport bleedin' Convention was influenced by the USA as well as most of the neo-bluegrass "Americana" groups hanging around cluttering up things. -- Happydog

Can anyone confirm the claim made in the latest edit, that Rand Forbes has worked as an "Oracle DBA"? It appears to be vandalism, but the IP's track record looks pretty clean. -Theaterfreak64 05:23, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
Links / parallels with the Velvet Underground edit
I'd like to see a reference to this in there - in many ways the USA were a West Coast parallel to the VU. Similar range of subject matter, similar musical backgrounds (links with LaMonte Young etc), female singer, exploration of new sounds in rock context, etc etc. I'd also read (in one of Richie Unterberger's books) that Nico wanted to join the USA after Dorothy Moskowitz left. Can this be confirmed further or should I just put it in ? Ghmyrtle 08:24, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
