Which ending for the 2D version? edit

Is it known which of the 2 endings was chosen for the 2D version of the film? I know there's an ending described in the Plot section, but was that the one? A related question: is it known whether this film was the first to be released with alternate endings? Although both were technically available on the same viewing, it's still a similar concept to the 1980s film Clue which was issued with multiple endings. 23skidoo (talk) 16:44, 25 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

To my understanding, the double ending of the movie is merely a myth, which has been copied from one tech blog to another. Ray Zone in his "Stereoscopic Cinema and the Origins of 3-D Film, 1838-1952" writes about "The Power of Love" based on reports of the time and doesn't mention the double ending in his detailed account (pp. 110-114). The double ending was used in "As You Like It" by Leventhal-Ives as an alternative application of the anaglyph technique. This is described in an interview with William Crespinal from 2000 but also briefly mentioned in a review from the 1925. See also my article on anaglyph color techniques.
