The article says that 'The Plot Against the Giant' is in the public domain because it was first published in 1917.

However, my understanding of copyright law (in the EU anyway) is that copyright lasts for 70 years after the death of the author, not from the date of first publication of the work.

This would mean that 'The Plot Against the Giant' is still under copyright, and so presumably should not be reproduced in full here on the Wikipedia page.

However I won't remove it as I am unsure what the copyright position is in the US, where Wikipedia presumably is based.John Self (talk) 10:25, 4 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
