When the recording sessions started edit
The album is listed as being released in August 1984. The source claims that the album began in 1984, and took 8-12 months to make. It seems pretty clear that it would have to have begun in 1983, but I can't confirm. I'm hoping someone has a more explicit and accessible source with information on this.
