Merger edit
The merger deal was taken off the other one so I took it off this one. There's several reasons the merger wouldn't work, but most neutral one is that both articles are substantial on their own. The only way to merge them without creating an ultra-huge article would be to remove a good deal of information from both. Other issues are that this series ultimately has a style on its own and in the case of Batgirl even differs in voice actors. Also that it came out years after the other ended and in such cases it's traditional for TV shows like that to be classed as separate.
That said I'll grant there is a gray area on the last point about continuing years later. For example Home Movies continued on Cartoon Network well after ending on UPN and the animation style was also changed in the second season by ending Squigglevision. A leading character voice also changed as Paula Poundstone's personal problems and other engagements led to her replacement as the voice of the mother. Lastly new characters, some fairly major, were added in the Cartoon Network years. That said the UPN version only lasted five episodes and there's not the same sense it's two different shows.--T. Batman: The Animated Series/Animated Series Batman (character)
During the creation of of that "late" article I always stated that it was a draft or unproject. It took weeks until Bennon cleverly figured out what I was trying to do was a sandbox (which I didn't know how to do until now). Now everyone can edit it with no time pressure and talk about what to do with the info when i's finally finished. I coul'd have created the sandbox in my own talk page, but I don't want anyone to assume I "OWN" the project. Merging The New Batman Adventures with Batman: The Animated Series into one page edit
With the news that "Batman: The Animated Series" is looking to be revived for HBO Max, I think it is time we merge these two pages. They are the same show. It was released on DVD as the same show, it is on HBO Max as the same show, the show is apparently expected to be revived with the original title (not as "The New Batman Adventures", so this being most recent is a moot point). They have the exact same main + recurring cast (with the exception of Batgirl). They are made by the same crew. The only change is a design change which many shows do in between seasons. 'The Adventures of Batman & Robin" didn't get its on page and we can add this subtitle as well. We can keep every bit of info that is on this page and subtitle this season as "The New Batman Adventures" (many shows do subtitles per season, such as Westworld, AHS, etc). - They are a different show, shown on different channels, with a different art style, a different tone, and focused on different characters, with most episodes by different writers than the other show had. The fact that they packaged them together for some DVDs is irrelevant. We've had this discussion before. Multiple times this has come up in different places. Dream Focus 09:28, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
- Tone is in the eye of the beholder and they are not just packaged together for some DVDs, they are also listed on the site's streaming home, HBO Max, as one show. They focus on the same characters, with new additions. The main cast is still the same, just with some characters (Nightwing) having developed which can happen in a show. As for the channel, shows can also be revived as the same show but air on a different network. I think it makes more sense to subtitle a section for this. You mention a lot of differences, however, The New Batman Adventures has the exact same theme song and end credits as B:TAS. It's not even redesigned. We don't have another page for "The Adventures of Batman and Robin", even though this primarily focuses much more on Robin and has a new theme song and end credits. If we're going by changes, then that should have its own page. Most of the same writers remained on the show- shows lose and gain writers all the time. I'm aware the conversation has been had before, but with the show possibly being revived, I think it's relevant. If B:TAS does return, it'll carry the designs and continuity from TNBA, but will be listed on the BTAS page - which I believe presents a conflict. --Jonathan (talk) 20:08, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
- To repeat my previous argument: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3l8HLHwXK8 It was packaged with Superman and used a shared opening as The New Batman/Superman Adventures when it was first shown. They then used the old intro when it went to syndication according to some. Doesn't matter, still a different show. Only two of the same writers did episodes for both, most of the episodes done by new writers. Different directors were used for the episodes. So you have a show that focused mostly on characters other than Batman, with everything made to look much different, on a different channel years after the other show ended, with different writers, and different directors. - AGREED. They are the same show. There are other shows that change channels, doesn't make Stargate (first Showtime, then Sci-Fi Channel) or Babylon 5 (first PTEN, then TNT) different shows. In DVD and Blu-Ray releases, on iTunes and on HBO Max TNBA is ALWAYS presented as the final season of B:TAS. Here is what happened: after the success of Superman, they bundled it with Batman to essentially create a Batman/ Superman hour (called The New Batman/ Superman Adventures). These included both new episodes and reruns. for the new Batman episodes they used the updated animation style from Superman, in part also to make crossovers possible. Because of the many differences between previous seasons and this one, fans came up with the idea to call the new episodes The New Batman Adventures. I've found these pages that shows the airing schedule: [1] and a copy of the original press release (taken from the talk page for The New Batman/ Superman Adventures [2]. - No one agreed with the guy but an IP address with no edits except for this discussion who just appears out of nowhere to agree with him. A blog post on wordpress is not a reliable source. And they did not bundle the old episodes into The New Batman/ Superman Adventures, those were new ones only. If years later when they got the rights for the old show from Fox then put it on the same channel, they still weren't bundled or switched around. Different show. - LOL, I am actually a different person and I just recently edited a bit on the DCAU main article and clarified that the BTAS revival is rumor is based on Kevin Smith. I just never bothered to sign in. I've also done edits for Metal Gear way back. But that's not the point. And I know the sources aren't rock solid, but I mean, come on, what do you think that schedule was? Maybe you can give sources that prove your point, maybe from before 2005 or so if possible? Proposed merge of List of The New Batman Adventures episodes into The New Batman Adventures edit
The series has ended production in 1999 since the series only lasted for 1 season and 24 episodes. I think that the episodes would be transferred to the main article where it can fit in one page since there would not be a split for the episodes page. 47.33.102.18 (talk) 18:33, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
