Folk Rock vs. Old Time Music vs. Indie Rock vs. Banjo Music edit
I am confused how this group is classified as a folk rock as opposed to indie rock or even old-time music. How are these classifications/genres assigned? If a group has music that bleeds into other genres, should they be limited to one?Gray106 (talk) 17:51, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
Good question. "Indie rock" can mean so, so, so many things. "Old time music" doesn't mean much of anything in particular. "Folk rock" is simply the best descriptor.50.132.207.101 (talk) 05:50, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Indie status edit
Just a question really but should the reference to The Lumineers' status as being an "indie" be updated/added to? I ask this because they seem to have been signed up with Decca records. If this is true and they have signed such a contract it might be better to include more details of this and link to information about the term "indie"? http://www.decca.com/artists/the-lumineers. I mostly want to know the gender of the members of this group, but since the individuals don't have their own pages, that information isn't readily available. - As a three-piece, The Lumineers met Maxwell Hughes at an open mic event in Denver. Hughes suggested joining the band as a mandolin accompaniment; he played and toured as an unofficial fourth member, and contributed to the band's debut album. However, the band was not looking for a permanent fourth member at the time, and Hughes and The Lumineers parted ways.
